Creative Mentoring Statistics

Teachers reported they have seen the following changes in the students involved in a
Creative Mentoring Program during the 2003 School Year:

    81% increased in self confidence
    68% think more before acting
    68% improved in their ability to relate to other adults
    64% are better able to express their feelings
    63% demonstrated better cooperation
    61% improved in reading
    61% became more responsible
    60% improved their attitudes toward learning
    60% participated more frequently in class
    57% improved in language arts
    57% improved their relationships with peers
    56% improved in completing assigned tasks
    54% improved their self control
    52% improved in math

    92% of teachers recommended that their student continue in the mentoring program the following year

Parents have seen the following changes in their children after being involved in a
Creative Mentoring Program:

    89% increased self-confidence
    85% demonstrated better cooperation
    83% improved attitude towards learning
    83% increased in reading
    82% became more responsible
    80% improved in language arts
    80% participated more frequently in class
    80% were better in following directions
    79% demonstrated more self control
    79% were better able to express their feelings
    79% improved in math
    79% showed more initiative
    79% paid better attention
    79% improved in their ability to relate to other adults
    79% improved in completing assigned tasks
    78% improved in their relationships with peers

    96% of parents recommended that their child continue in the mentoring program the following year

Mentors reported the following changes in their mentees at the end of the school year.

    88% increased their self confidence
    83% improved their attitudes toward learning
    82% demonstrated better cooperation
    80% increased reading
    80% are better able to express their feelings
    79% pay more attention
    77% showed more respect for adults
    75% became more responsible
    75% were better at following directions
    75% demonstrated more self control
    75% improved in their ability to relate to other adults
    74% improved in math
    73% showed more initiative
    70% improved their relationship with peers

    89% of mentors plan to continue mentoring for another school year

 But what do the children have to say about their mentoring experience this year? Here's what they told us:

    98% like spending time with their mentors
    92% want to have a mentor again next year
    91% learn new things from their mentors
    91% can talk to their mentors about all kinds of things
    88% hope to get the same mentor again next year
    78% like school better because of their mentors
    71% say they are doing better in school because of their mentors
